What Is a Spider Fitting?
A spider is a cast or machined SS arm assembly, bolted to a structure (fin glass, steel mullion or cable truss), that grips glass panels at their corners through countersunk routel bolts. One 4-arm spider can support the corners of four adjacent panels.

Key Components
A structural glazing system combines spiders (1/2/3/4-arm), routels (swivel or fixed), fin glass or steel supports, and weather-sealing silicone. Every component must be engineered for wind load and glass weight.
Why Material Grade Is Critical
Spiders live outdoors, exposed to rain and pollution. SS-304 is the minimum; coastal projects step up to SS-316. A corroded spider arm is a structural risk, not a cosmetic one.
